Everyone has always wanted to see the amazing architecture of Fallingwater, but few get the chance. How many of us, after all, consider Pittsburgh for a vacation? Yet Fommer’s picked Pittsburgh as a top destination for 2008, and we think you’ll find it just as fabulous September 28 – October 1, 2009, on our special tour!

On day two of your full but relaxing itinerary, you’ll be visiting the Laurel Highlands, including Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob (another house by Frank Lloyd Wright), and more! And that’s just one of the four days of this tour! There is certainly a lot to see and do, but please leave all the driving to us: this is an all-luxury motor coach “escorted vacation” (no flying!), and we pamper you and take care of you at all times, so you enjoy 0% fuss, 100% vacation!

According to the official Fallingwater website,

Fallingwater is the name of a very special house that is built over a waterfall. Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, designed the house for his clients, the Kaufmann family. Fallingwater was built between 1936 and 1939. It instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic Landmark.

The Wikipedia article also has much interesting information:

Fallingwater stands as one of Wright’s greatest masterpieces both for its dynamism and for its integration with the striking natural surroundings. The extent of Wright’s genius in integrating every detail of this design can only be hinted at in photographs. The fireplace hearth in the living room is composed of boulders found on the site and upon which the house was built — one set of boulders which was left in place protrudes slightly through the living room floor. Although the waterfall can be heard throughout the house, it can’t be seen without going outside. The experiential climax of visiting the house is an interior staircase leading down from the living room allowing direct access to the rushing stream beneath the house.
